Flying High in the Texas Sky

[Lexington, KY] –The Unitedmotorsports.com, Musick Racing, Media Allstars Team rolled into Texas with their sleeves rolled up and ready for a battle.  The track at Underground MX in Kemp, Texas is one that features some huge jumps, sandy soil and plenty of challenges for the riders.  Luckily for us our guys were more than ready to face those head on!

Kevin Saar #31 had a nasty get off at the opening round of AMA Pro ATVMX Racing in Daytona which took him out of any contention for a decent finish.  Saar really showed some grit just getting out there and riding in Texas as he is still feeling the effects of his aforementioned on track incident at Daytona.  None of that stopped him from putting in 2 solid motos in the Pro class though as he toughed his way to finish 10th in moto 1 and topped that with a 9th in moto 2 to take home a very respectable 9th place overall.

The Texas race was not only round 2 for AMA Pro ATV Racing and Pro Sport but it also served as the opening round for the rest of the AMA ATVMX National Series.  Racing both the Pro and Pro-am class in a weekend can prove daunting but Saar looked strong and fast out there on Sunday in Pro-am.  The 2nd year Pro from Estonia used his JH Racing  powered Yamaha to rip 2 really nice holeshots and ended up going 2-2 for a 2nd overall for the weekend.  Saar admitted that he was riding a bit cautious and that he probably didn’t take a few chances that he normally would but that’s too be expected after his Daytona experience.  We can’t wait to see him back in action at the next round and rolling at 100%!

Heath Hannah had a great performance in the Pro Sport race.

After a stellar performance in the Pro Sport opener in Florida Clyde, North Carolina rider Heath Hannah wanted to back it up with another podium in Texas.  Sometimes you just want to prove to yourself and your competitors that you really do belong up front.  Saturday’s Pro Sport class didn’t go quite as planned as Heath got tangled up in a first turn crash leaving him scrambling to get remounted on his machine.  This crash proved a little more than he could over come and left him with a moto score of 8-18 for 14th overall.  Still all points are valuable at the season’s end and we’re sure Heath will rebound just fine.  Sunday’s Pro-Am action brought out the Heath Hannah we fell in love with in Daytona.  The TDR powered Yamaha rider used his strong motor to get 2 really good starts and rode his way to finish 4-4 for the weekend just off of the podium in 4th place.  The #61 machine was turning some of the fastest lap times in the class so we don’t think it’ll be long before we see Heath earn his first Pro-Am podium.

Brett Musick went 3-3 at round two.

Team Co-Captain Brett Musick, like Kevin Saar didn’t have the opening round he was looking for at Daytona, just like his teammate he bounced back in a big way in Texas.  Musick was in a first turn crash at Daytona that caused him to not only finish near the middle of the pack in Pro Sport, it also caused him to fracture several ribs.  Toughness is something we’d expect from the Verdunville, WV native and he navigated the pain to have a really nice weekend of racing.  The #209 machine used his JH Racing powered Honda motor to run up front in Pro Sport finishing with Moto scores of 3-3 and that was good enough to grab the final podium spot.  Musick’s weekend didn’t stop there he also took him 1-1 scores for the top spot on the box in the Junior 25+ class too!  Brett getting a double dose of Champaign at Underground Mx is a great way to rebound from a disappointing opener just a few short weeks ago in Florida.

The 2024 season is officially off and rolling now in both the Pro and Amateur classes.  Texas was great for the United Motorsports.com, Musick Racing, Media Allstars but now we must prepare for the grueling conditions that await in Lizella, Georgia for round 3.  Our next stop on this tour brings us to an old nemesis…Echeconnee MX.  A great track and facility which used to be a mainstay on the National circuit is back on the schedule in 2024 and the rough, sandy conditions will be huge test to every rider in attendance.  We know we’re up to the task and we can’t wait to see everything there!
